This is bit difficult but one should try to control the 10% instead of going for 90%.
Have you read this before? Discover the 90/10 Principle. It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations). What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down.
The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

You’re sitting in your big chair in the living room. Staring into space. The TV is on but you have put it on mute. You don’t want the noise.
You may have called in sick today. You are not. But you are sick at heart because of a problem that will not go away. It hangs on and on and you don’t know how to solve it. It could be personal – business – family.
It doesn’t matter what it is. You are stuck. You can’t go forward and you can’t go back. You feel paralyzed. And you are afraid.
You’ve thought about calling a friend but you really don’t want to talk about it right now. You should probably go out for a walk but it is too much effort. You don’t even want to put a load of wash on.
We have been there. All of us.
There is only one thing I have found that works. It does require a little effort but not too much. Get up and find a yellow pad. And a pen. Start writing. Write about the news you are seeing on the TV on the banner that is going by. Write about your paralysis. Write about the cleaning you should have dropped off yesterday. The laundry that is not done. Just keep writing. Write about any thought that comes into your head. Write without punctuation. Write and write until you feel your hand will fall off.
After about one and a half pages, an interesting thing happens. You start writing about your problem. Curse it. Defame. Criticize. Complain. Bewail your fate. Talk about your hopelessness in solving it. Get mad. Really mad. No one is going to read this, so you can say anything you want on that paper. Write things you would be ashamed to say out loud, even to yourself. About this time, your brain, which knows everything, will start to clear a little. Strange and weird solutions start coming out on the paper. That’s OK. We are not trying to solve anything. We are just writing.
By page three, you are coming into a point where you are going to start examining your options. Most of them are bad but keep going. This process may not enable you to make a decision. But it does one very important thing. It clears some of the blocks in your mind which are preventing you from taking action. Gets them out of the way.
OK. Stop. Do not read what you have written. You can even tear the pages up and throw them in the garbage. Or burn them in the sink. You should be able to get out of your chair now. Do not expect too much of yourself. Ask yourself the question, “What is the next right thing I can do for myself right now?” It could be brushing your teeth. Maybe taking a shower. Having a bowl of cereal.
You have just gone through a self exorcism. You need some time to recover. Let the problem go for now. No decisions today. Tomorrow is another day.
Consider doing this writing again and again. Until everything is extremely clear in your mind. Your subconscious mind knows the answer to your problem and exactly what to do.
Let this wisdom speak to you in your own time frame.
Don’t rush the answers. They may not be pretty. But, they will come.

Have you ever set out to accomplish something, and well, it just didn’t happen? Maybe you can remember a time where you wanted to start a project, and became overwhelmed at the size of the task at hand, and never got to finish. Whatever the case may be, many of us have countless “piles”, “stacks”, and half completed projects complicating our lives.
So what happened? Why do we add more stress to our all ready full plate by leaving things for another time? Are we lazy, or unmotivated? Hardly.
Most often, the reason that people don’t start that project, or begin a long overdue task is that they don’t know where to begin.
Knowing how to “get off the blocks” is the single most important skill that you can learn. It will change your life as you know it! Why? Because when you actually begin something, the likelyhood of completing it increases 100%. Doesn’t it make sense that you can’t finish anything if you didn’t start it in the first place.
So what can you do to start accomplishing more and move closer to the life you desire? What will unlock the door to a whole new kind of life? The answer is SIMPLE, and you can start today, right now, this minute!
You need a skill that you can apply immediatly that will change the direction of your life. This simple concept when put into action will allow you to accomplish ANYTHING that you ever wanted, in record time. No more anxiety about the details; no more stress about the long term result. Just uncover the elements to get you started, keep you on task, and in no time you will steadily be moving toward the finish line!
So here it is:
YOU CAN TAKE ON ANY TASK YOU SET YOUR MIND TO…ONE ELEMENT AT A TIME!
- Build a house, one brick at a time;
- Mountains of paperwork, tackled one piece at a time;
- Write a book, one word at a time….
It sounds so silly, so simple, so childish, but trust that the simplest things are what make the biggest impact.
We have all set goals, and taken on projects cause frustration when the result isn’t what we had envisioned. So if you want to change the result, you have to change what you are doing!
So the next time you want to accomplish any task, whether it’s big or small, follow these steps and see your results AND how you feel about yourself change!
- Take your project and break it down into bitesize pieces (a.k.a. as ELEMENTS). Just think about what you can do in this very moment. Don’t think about the entire project or what you want long term just one small managable piece.
- Complete the element - nothing more.
- Decide if you are able to complete another element in this moment. If you are great, if you aren’t that’s right and perfect too!
- Take a moment and acknowledge that you have completed something to move yourself closer to your goal. Feel good about it, and know that you are on your way to creating the life you desire.
Remember that rarely can you accomplish an entire task in one sitting, but you can do something that will move you a little closer to the finish line. The act of putting to much presure on yourself will eventually become overwhelming and cause you to stop all together. So the next time you feel yourself becoming stressed out and unsure if you will ever get anything done…
Know that…You Can Do ANYTHING!
ONE ELEMENT AT A TIME….It’s that Simple; Nothing More….One Element at a time!
